Student Leadership

At our school, student leadership provides opportunities for students to develop confidence, responsibility, and a strong sense of community.

School Captains:

The School Captain is a leadership role for our grade 6 students. They are the key representative of the student body, serving as a role model who embodies the school values of “Work hard, be kind, feel proud” as well as the values  of persistence, responsibility, independence, discipline, and excellence.

House Captains:

The House Captain role is a leadership position for grade 5 students, supporting the school community and serving as a stepping stone to more senior leadership roles in grade 6. House Captains embody the school’s values of “Work hard, be kind, feel proud” and demonstrate PRIDE at all times.

Additional Student Leadership Roles:

The Events Captain plays a key role in supporting teachers and staff in the organization, setup, and execution of whole-school events. They embody the school’s values of persistence, responsibility, independence, discipline, and excellence, and lead by example in all that they do.

The Publicity Captain is responsible for promoting the school both internally and externally. They work to highlight the school’s achievements and events in alignment with the school’s values of persistence, responsibility, independence, discipline, and excellence.

The Inclusion Captain is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and supportive school environment for all students. They play a key role in leading peer support activities and promoting inclusion as part of the school’s commitment to “Work hard, be kind, feel proud” and the values of persistence, responsibility, independence, discipline, and excellence.

The Environmental Captain is a student leader who champions the upkeep and care of the school environment, both inside and out. They embody the school’s motto, “Work hard, be kind, feel proud,” as well as the values of persistence, responsibility, independence, discipline, and excellence.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

Our SRC has 8 student representatives, with 2 students from each Learning Group. Foundation students join the SRC mid-year (end of Term 2 / start of Term 3) to give them time to settle into school routines first.

SRC members are selected within each Learning Group. Teachers either work with their team to nominate students who demonstrate leadership and responsibility, or invite students to self-nominate. If more than two students nominate themselves, a majority vote by classmates decides the representatives.

We support our students in developing their voice, leadership skills, and sense of responsibility within our school community.
