Kindergarten Transitions

Foundation (Prep) Transition Program

Our Foundation (Prep) Transition Program commences in Term 4 each year and provides an exciting opportunity for children to become familiar with school life before they begin their learning journey at Cranbourne Primary School.

Transition sessions are held fortnightly throughout Term 4, with each session running for approximately one hour. Families with enrolled students receive the transition schedule, including dates and times, via email prior to the commencement of the program.

During the transition sessions, children have opportunities to:

  • Become familiar with the school environment and classroom settings

  • Learn some of the daily classroom routines and expectations

  • Participate in circle time activities

  • Sing songs and engage in shared stories

  • Complete hands-on learning activities

  • Develop confidence, independence, and positive relationships with staff and peers

These sessions are designed to support a smooth and successful start to school by helping children feel comfortable, connected, and excited about beginning Foundation.

Final Transition Session

During the final transition session, students meet their Foundation teacher and spend time in their classroom for the following year. This special session helps students become familiar with their learning environment and begin building connections with their teacher and classmates.

Parents and carers are invited to attend an information session with the Principal and Learning Specialist. This provides an opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the Foundation program, school routines, and expectations, and gain information to support a positive start to the school year.
