Student Well-Being

Our school is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students are engaged, respected and able to achieve their full potential. In line with the Victorian Department of Education’s Student

Wellbeing Framework and FISO 2.0, we recognise that student wellbeing and learning are interconnected

and essential for positive outcomes.

We implement a whole-school, evidence-informed approach to wellbeing that promotes inclusion, eng

agement and positive behaviour. At Cranbourne Primary School we use the MTSS tiered system.

Whole-School Approach to Wellbeing (Tier 1)

Our Tier 1 practices support all students through the development of a positive, predictable and inclusive school environment..

Positive Behaviour Support
We implement a school-wide approach to positive behaviour support, where expected behaviours are explicitly taught, modelled and reinforced. Behavioural incidents are responded to using consistent minor and major behaviour processes, aligned with Department policy, with a focus on restoration, learning and maintaining student dignity.

Social and Emotional Learning and Wellbeing Programs

Students participate in structured social and emotional learning through:

  • Respectful Relationships
  • Zones of Regulation

These programs support the development of emotional literacy, self-regulation, resilience and positive relationships.

Targeted Support for students (Tier 2)

Some students may require additional, targeted support to enhance their learning and engagement.

Growth Meetings
Students requiring additional academic support are identified through ongoing assessment and data analysis. Growth Meetings are held to collaboratively plan targeted teaching strategies, adjustments and short-term goals. These meetings involve classroom teachers and relevant staff, and may include family input where appropriate.

Targeted Adjustments
Students may receive small group support, differentiated learning tasks or targeted interventions to support their progress.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Groups
Students may participate in small group Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programs to develop skills in understanding and managing emotions. These groups provide a supportive environment where students can:

  • build emotional awareness and vocabulary
  • develop self-regulation strategies
  • strengthen social skills and relationships
  • practise problem-solving and coping strategies

1:1 Wellbeing Support
Some students may benefit from individual support sessions with our youth workers. These sessions provide a safe and supportive space for students to explore their emotions, develop coping strategies and build skills to support their wellbeing and engagement at school.

Individualised Support (Tier 3)

A small number of students may require intensive, individualised support across learning, behaviour and/or wellbeing.

Case Management
Students with complex needs may be supported through a case management approach. This involves coordinated planning, regular review meetings and collaboration between school staff, families and external professionals to implement individualised strategies.

Disability Inclusion
Our school implements the Disability Inclusion framework to support students with additional needs. Through this process, students may receive supplementary, substantial or extensive adjustments to enable equitable access to learning.

Referrals and Interagency Collaboration
Where appropriate, the schoolworks in partnership with external agencies, including allied health and community services, to provide coordinated and specialised support for students and families.

Supporting Families

SchoolTV
Our school provides access to SchoolTV, an online wellbeing resource offering evidence-informed information and strategies to support families across a range of topics, including mental health, behaviour and online safety.
